AnnealingAnnealing is a process of controlled heating and cooling of steel in order to reduce the hardness and change the structure of carbides in order to assist subsequent metal working operations to reduce scrap, wear and tear, improve tooling life etc.. Batch annealing is most popular currently. Spherodize annealing is proven to be the choice in the metal working industry because the structure of the resulting carbides gives the highest ductility and formability to the steel. Spherodizing occurs when steel is heated and maintained at sub-critical temperatures for number of hours determined by the size of the steel. Since sub-critical temperatures are determined by the carbon factors in the steel, the annealing cycles are different in different grades of steel. Following is the annealing capabilities at Trai-Cor Processing Inc.
